• <H3> In 1950; an 18 year old, single, white, female, Larye Deege; opened a dance studio, not knowing the impact of what she had begun. A few years later she married Ray Eller and had 2 daughters that would soon become students and teachers alongside her. The studio blossomed until Larye fell ill and her daughters were left to take on the studio alone. Now 14 years since her passing, her daughter Raeann is the owner/teacher with more drive and passion than ever. Still located at 615 Blondeau Street in Keokuk, IA, we offer a wide variety of dance classes ranging from Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Tumbling, Lyrical, Contemporary and Pointe. We group students not only by age levels, but by experience levels as well. Dance classes are not just for kids, but adults as well! We have adult performing and non-performing classes to choose from. We encourage students to support and assist each other, focus on developing their dance technique, and then acquire a healthy competitive attitude. Once joining the competition team the student has the opportunity to share their talent both locally and nationally. Raeann School of Dance has two big shows, both at the Grand Theatre in Keokuk, IA. Our first is our annual Christmas Show in December, this is a non-profit performance opportunity, donations only, with all of the profit going towards the Salvation Army Angel Tree. After the recital our dancers will go shopping for their “Angels”. This is a great giving opportunity for the students to buy for those less fortunate. In the past 13 years we have raised over $25,000! Our second performance is our end of the year recital in May. This is where the students and teachers hard work will pay off, creating a fun and diverse recital! So what makes Raeann’s your best studio choice? We concentrate on building your child’s self-esteem and using positive reinforcement rather than competition reinforcement. There is no greater reward than watching a child come out of his/her shell and bloom into the performer they aim to be.

• <H6> Teacher and choreographer, Raeann started dancing at the age of three. Upon graduation from Keokuk Senior High School and her mother’s dance studio, Larye School of Dance, she attended Texan Women’s University in Denton, Texas as a dance major. Since graduation she has studied with such renowned teachers as Gus Giordano, Al Gilbert, Henry Le Tang, Joe Tremaine, Roland Dupree, Jo Rowan, and Robert Reed to name a few. Besides choreographing many musicals and drill teams, she has been a judge for Talent, Beauty, Cheer and Pom Pon competitions and Scholarship Pageants. Her choreography has won national awards.
• <H6> With over 3 decades of working with young people, Mrs. Salter has owned studios in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri and Texas. Students from Raeann’s have opportunities to travel and perform in Branson, Florida, Tennessee, Minnesota, Arizona and New Orleans as well as Sydney and Caines, Australia. Students have won national titles and have been on TV commercials and dance documentaries. Former students have gone on to pursue dance careers of their own and have become members of professional modern companies in St. Louis, Missouri as well as operating studios of their own. In continuing the tradition of Larye School of Dance, Raeann opened and incorporated, Raeann School of Dance, Inc. in August 2001. With 38 years of teaching dance and operation of a studio, the legacy of Larye’s will continue. Raeann is the owner of “The Dance Shoppe” and Director of Arts in Motion Dance Competition which is beginning its 16th year.
